Soccer Comes to an End

This Saturday was Cooper and Hudson's last soccer game and we are all a little sad that the season has come to an end!  They both had great little teams and nice coaches but hopefully we can have a lot of the same in the fall!

Hudson's team was mostly 4 year olds and he was something else.  He is so dang stubborn and had to have things his way and his coaches were always too nice and tried to accommodate his every need.  He wasn't bad but was just set in his ways and wasn't about to play a game or participate if he didn't think it was worth his time or effort.  He did love the scrimmage time and was quite the little star in his last game.  We honestly lost count but he scored at least 9 goals in their 3 vs. 3 matchups.  To say he was a tad proud would be the understatement of the day!

Next up was Cooper's last game.  He has had a fun season but hasn't scored quite as much as he would've liked!  I was so happy for him that he got a goal in this one to finish the season on a high note.  He hustles like crazy and definitely deserved to get one this game!  He has good buddies on his team but also was able to play against two kids he knows Saturday, which made it a lot of fun.  He is still the cutest when a teammate scores as he is still the first to run up and congratulate them.  It definitely makes a parent's heart swell with pride to see such unselfishness.

One of the parents from Cooper's team is an ESPN photographer and was nice enough to send us a few of Cooper from a previous game.  Cooper feels like such a superstar to have such awesome shots!

First Track Meet

Swift Creek Elementary has a track team for 3rd - 5th graders and Carter was lucky enough to make the team.  Tryouts occur during PE as the track coach is also the PE teacher.  Carter would come home each time he had PE in the fall and tell us how he did in whatever they were working on with track but we didn't get the official letter until probably February.  He was so excited to make it and proud because only 6 boys and 6 girls from each grade get to do it.

They practiced twice a week before school and he looked forward to those days so much!  They trained hard for only one meet but Carter didn't seem to mind:).  They had their one and only track meet this past week at Meredith College against 7 other schools.  Carter was so nervous!  It just about killed me to watch him pace around from afar and not be able to do or say anything to calm his nerves.  His events were the 200 meter dash and the 4 x 100 meter relay.  He did great and ran his little tail off but finished 4th in both events.  He was still proud of himself and definitely gave it his all.  Some of those children could just fly!  It was a fun experience and he's already counting down until next year when he can hopefully do it again.

Mother's Day

Our pool opens each year for the summer on Mother's Day and our boys had been counting down the days!  Unfortunately the weather was less than ideal but we went as soon as it opened with the thought that we'd be rained or stormed out pretty quickly.  I guess there's a reason we aren't meteorologists because we ended up staying until 4:30 despite the wind, rain, and chilly day.  Carter was so proud the be the first one in the pool for the year and the first to try out the new slide...where does this competitiveness come from?!?!

Everyone spoiled me to death and we had a great day together.  We are all so happy that it's once again time for pool days!
